The Goddess Tunare Summoned to Norrath!
The Goddess Tunare in her divine splendor LESSER FEY, FAYDWER- Firiona Vie returned once again to her kingdom in Greater Feydark with a grave announcement. She had to perform a ritual which would be able to stave off the Lord of Fear, Cazic-thule himself. With much apprehension, she gathered a number of assistants to help her perform the warding, and in a divine light, Tunare, mother of all appeared to those present in the Lesser Fey area. Unfortunately, to all those involved, the ritual was unable to be completed, and reports of hideous cackling could be heard echoing through the trees...have those foolish among the assembled doomed us all?
Firionia Vie and Equestrielle talk hurredly about the ritual soon to take place. Goblin Kingdom Expedition planned! FIRIONA VIE OUTPOST, KUNARK Lloric of the Horde was honored and tasked with a task set before him by one of the greatest spellcasters of the realm, AlKabor himself. In Llorics own words: The greatest and most productive wizard ever produced by the Erudites, Al'Kabor, paid an unannounced visit to Firiona Vie and the Dreadlands two nights ago. I had been waiting at the dock to return to Faydwer to undergo advanced training at the wizards guilds in Felwithe and Ak'Anon, but now I had the honor not only of witnessing the event, but also of being selected to assist the revered wizard in a small task. Al'Kabor appeared near the bridge in the Elven outpost of Firiona Vie, materializing in his signature ball of flame. He began calling throughout the zone that he was looking for his assistant, Sorko Talvazon, who he said was late in completing an assignment. Al'Kabor seemed upset that Sorko had not met him at the appointed time. The mighty wizard then began calling out for a mature wizard to assist him that night. While I do not consider myself truly mature (I had heard the chimes only twenty times - the twentieth that very night), I nonetheless presented myself to Al'Kabor. I was awed to be in the presence of such a well-known researcher, and, feeling tongue-tied, merely stood there silently. Many others with more experience offered their services, but none had a wizard's training and Al'Kabor diffidently refused their help. I believe my red robe caught his attention, and he immediately Began interrogating me about my skills. "Can you Nullify Magic?" he asked. I admitted that I could not. Al'Kabor followed up, "Can you at least Cancel Magic?" This I can do, and when I said so to the Erudite wizard, he told me in rapid fire fashion that I was to meet him at the Combine Portal in the Dreadlands. Now, I have never been to the Dreadlands, and had not yet even learned a single teleportation spell other than the most basic Gate spell, and I hesitated to commit for fear I would be unable to reach the destination in time to be of any help. By this time, many others had gathered around, and a few immediately offered to help me complete the quest. "May I invite others to join me in the quest?" I asked. Al'Kabor replied that I could accept the help of others, but that I alone would be called upon to complete the task he had in mind. Hearing this I immediately accepted a pending invitation from a more powerful wizard, Nektonis, who had arrived sometime after Al'Kabor selected me to assist him. I considered abdicating the task to the more experienced Nektonis, but events flowed so quickly from this point forward that there was never a chance to say so to Al'Kabor, and I will admit I was more than a little afraid of disappointing the wizard by forcing a change of plans upon him. Nektonis also invited two others - both druids I believe, whose names I fail to remember; all of them were much more experienced than I. I bound myself to the area and memorized the Cancel Magic spell, while Nektonis prepared to teleport us to the Combine Portal. With a thundering clap, we appeared amid the spires of the Combine Portal in Dreadlands. I immediately noticed an immense crowd of adventurers gathered at the base of one of the spires, so many that I could not see who or what had caught their interest. They were all speaking to one amidst the throng, Sorko Talvazon, who was busily chipping away chunks of the spire. Those gathered around him were gathering up the fallen chunks of rock, and handing them to Sorko. I knew we had arrived in time, because Al'Kabor was not yet present. Sorko was agitated. He kept muttering to himself that this was taking too long and his master would be angry if he were late. Al'Kabor then appeared in another ball of flame, and immediately pushed his way through the crowd to confront Sorko, who instantly apologized and fawned upon his master. In a move that was a shock to everyone, Al'Kabor accused his trusted assistant of betraying him. The great wizard said he had evidence that Sorko had sold his master's valuable research to a Gnome named Terblyn Zelbus. The crowd began wailing that Sorko was not a betrayer. Sorko denied the truth of the accusation, and proclaimed his undying allegiance to Al'Kabor. But the angry wizard would hear nothing, and informed all present that Sorko was to be punished for this betrayal. Some in the crowd tried to jump to Sorko's defense, attacking the vengeful Al'Kabor, but he was protected by an unknown force that prevented this. Then Al'Kabor called out my name. Someone had cast a spell of Levitation on me, so I hovered above the crowd. I moved closer, settling in front of the tall Erudite wizard, where I bobbed on an invisible cushion of air. "Cease levitating, Lloric, you're making me dizzy," he said. Of course I obliged and dropped to the ground. "Prepare your Cancel Magic spell.", Al'Kabor commanded me. I had it ready and told him so. Now, Sorko became nervous and asked his master what he was going to do. Al'Kabor refused to answer him, and instead ordered me to position myself opposite him, with Sorko between us. He was preparing to perform some sort of ritual, and everyone knew Sorko would be the target, and that he probably would not survive it. Al'Kabor instructed me to ready my Cancel Magic spell and to cast it immediately when he gave the word. I was to target the large bag Sorko was holding, into which he had collected the fragments of the wizard spire. All the while, Sorko uttered his complaints and worries, sounding confused and let down by his idol. Al'Kabor had the crowd move back in a circle around us, warning that this ritual could harm many if they stood too close. When he was satisfied they were all at a safe distance (all except me and Sorko) he began to cast a spell, and cried out to me to cast mine. Our spells triggered simultaneously, the great master's spell was one of his own powerful ice spells, mine the simple Cancel Magic he had asked me to use. Sorko was struck by the fury of ice unleashed by Al'Kabor's magic, and fell to the ground, unconscious and barely alive. This was Al'Kabor's punishment. He took the large bag of spire fragments from Sorko, who soon thereafter returned to consciousness. Sorko was bewildered, and continued to profess his innocence and devotion to his master. Al'kabor responded by informing all present that Sorko was no longer worthy of being his assistant. Sorko became dejected, and walked away in such an air of despondence that I fear he might seek to end his own life. The learned Al'kabor lingered for a few moments after his former assistant's departure, examining the pieces of wizard spire in the bag and performing a magical analysis of them. He muttered to himself that he saw great potential in the material to assist in focusing a wizard's magic. There was much speculation that perhaps Al'kabor would use this information to construct a new portal, or create some new portal spell. His replies were vague and uninformative, except that he did confirm Nektonis's remark that the material of the wizard spires helped to concentrate a wizard's power enough to achieve teleportation. Finally, before departing, Al'kabor called me forward again, and presented me with a Coin of Insight, and instructed me to hurry back to the Elven outpost to find an Elven woman named Ailerina near the statue of the Chosen One. I immediately gated back to the Elven outpost where I was bound near the bridge. I located the unmistakeable statue of the Chosen One near the harbor entrance and at its base was Ailerina, admiring the ocean view. When I gave her the coin, she announced to the entire zone that I was a worthy hero of the realm, recognized by the gods. I felt more mature immediately. She also presented me with a ring called "Deceitful Ring of Vahlai" which resembles nothing so much as the notched black Cutthroat Insignia rings one finds on certain villains in the deserts of Ro. This ring, however, conveys upon the wearer increased intelligence, health, and - especially valuable to acomparatively unattractive Gnome like myself - added charisma. I never did make it onto the boat that day, but the diversion more than made up for the delay. Unfortunately, in all the excitment I didn't even think to use my imaging device to capture stills of the event. It was all I could do to keep up with all that was being said. Our congratulations go out to Lloric of the Horde for becoming one of the heroes of Norrath, one of the elite of Norrath, and one of the select few. But one wonders, was Sorko guilty of betrayal? Why was AlKabor so livid with Sorkos failings? Who is this mysterious rival, Terblyn Zelbus, and what could possibly make Sorko possibly betray AlKabor? The Department of Records refused to comment on the matter, but said steps were being taken immediately to research said rival. Once again, congratulations to Lloric of the Horde, and his great accomplishments!
Congratulations in Order! AK'ANON, FAYDWER- With the current problems plaguing other lands, a number of items of interest have come to the attention of the Gnomish community. -Sabrenie, has announced to the Horde that she has offered her hand to her long-time hunting companion, Wurtin, and he has accepted it graciously! We wish the best for these two young lovebirds, and will keep you posted on where and when the ceremony will take place! -Realms recently had the opportunity to show those outside the Horde the pinnacle of what we are and represent. Noluv Tonight, Guild Leader of the War Machine of the Tiny, one of our allies had this to say about Realms.'...I would like to commend one of your members - Realms, a Gnomish Necromancer of the 13th Lich Wiggle (if he was a member of the War Machine, anyway). One of (The War Machine of the Tiny) was hailed by him, and was asked to accompany Realms on his corpse run into Northern Desert of Ro. Upon arrival at said corpse, Realms was quite generous, giving him several items of little worth to Realms, but of immense wealth to a 3rd Season Elven Ranger. Charity to a complete stranger is to be celebrated!' Congratulations Realms! -Professor Furgin of the Department of Astronomical and Astrological Sciences has finally announced who he would be asking for his assistant. 'After much consideration and looking over potential candidates, I have chosen Benzworth Cogglestop to be my assistant in the exploration and discovery of what new wonders our sister in the heavens would hold for the gnomish people. His reputation is impeccable and he would make an excellent member on my research faculty.' Professor Furgin also mentioned that Benzworth had one week to reply, also with any other candidates that he would think would be able to assist with the research. No comment was available from Mr. Cogglestop at this time.
